De Atramentis Wine Ink, Merlot
Red fountain pen ink made with wine from DeAtramentis, handmade in Germany.
MerlotĀ is a dark blue-coloredĀ wineĀ grape variety, that is used as both a blending grape and forĀ varietalĀ wines. The nameĀ MerlotĀ is thought to be aĀ diminutiveĀ ofĀ merle, theĀ FrenchĀ name for theĀ blackbird, probably a reference to the color of the grape. Its softness and "fleshiness", combined with itsĀ earlier ripening, makes Merlot a popular grape for blending with the sterner, later-ripeningĀ Cabernet Sauvignon, which tends to be higher inĀ tannin.Ā Merlot is one of the primary grapes used inĀ Bordeaux wine, and it is the most widely planted grape in the Bordeaux wine regions.
This ink is made by hand in small batches, therefore there could be some color variation between bottles of ink.
